AMERICAN ANGEL Mainman Comments On Band's Chart Success
December 5, 2007New Jersey rockers AMERICAN ANGEL have sold 640 copies of their new album, "Vanity", in the United States since the CD's November 27 release via Chavis Records, according to Nielsen SoundScan. This figure was apparently high enough to land the group in the top position of Billboard's Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart in the Northeast region, according to a press release issued by Chavis.
Upon hearing the news, vocalist Rocco Fury had the following comment: "Where is 'Candid Camera'? Are you joking with me? Is this a hoax? WOW! I am ecstatic and very very happy about this. I knew this was a solid project when we recorded it and I believe whole-heartedly in the songs and album. And when we're all gone, 'Vanity' will still stand on its own."
Previously signed to Grudge/BMG, AMERICAN ANGEL received national exposure with its self-titled debut release and video single, "How Can I Miss You", which was featured on MTV's "Headbanger's Ball" in 1989.
"Vanity" was recorded at Spa Sound in New Jersey with producer Stevie D. (ARCARA, SHOTGUN SYMPHONY, T.T. QUICK, OVERKILL).
AMERICAN ANGEL will continue to tour in support of "Vanity" with a few remaining dates in 2007 and additional shows in 2008.
The Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
